Both, however, teach you something. You can learn about human nature. You can learn about the kindness or cruelty of others. You can learn about yourself. In this assignment, you will write about one such event. Step 1: Collect your thoughts. Think of important events in your life. Consider the following: best mistake happiest accident the death f a close friend or relative a major victory or defeat the beginning of a relationship beginning a new school the ending Of a relationship. List your own experiences. These could have occurred years ago. They could have happened this morning. Dont list just big dramatic events. Sometimes, small events affect us deeply. Unit 3: Writing?using Strategies to Shape Writing 211 Freighting Below is an example of freighting. This was the first step in the example narrative paragraph on page 209. As you can see, the writer used the freighting strategy on pages 162-163 to find an idea to develop. Remember: When you ferrite, you just write, write, write. You do not stop to think or correct. If you get stuck, you can repeat the last word you wrote until something else pops up. You just write whatever comes to mind. Its Friday. Friday Friday goody goody that means tomorrow is Saturday boy do I love Saturdays can sleep I can sleep can go to the mall can go to the movies can do what want I can do what I did last week just do nothing, Just get up early couldnt sleep can you believe that? Couldnt sleep just sat on porch watched sunrise Daddy thought was sick. Took us to breakfast really neat. Wanted to take me fishing like when I was a little girl. That was fun remember catching the rubber boot. Kara fell in the lake. Went water skiing on that lake with Jim and Lily. Thought Id drank half of lake fun when finally stood up boy did my arms hurt next day. As a paragraph, this has problems. As a freighting, it is successful, The writer has mentioned three topics. She mentions a seemingly unimportant Saturday when she couldnt sleep late. She mentions a fishing trip with her father and sister. She mentions learning to water ski. Any of these topics would make a good paragraph. P reactive Step 2: Freighting. Study your list of experiences. Choose one that is significant. Make sure you identify a particular incident. You should be able to remember the exact date this happened. For example, dont write about how your dog changed your life. Instead, write about the day you rece ived your dog. Write down your topic. Begin freighting (see page 163). Dont Stop to think or correct. Just write, write, write. If you get stuck, repeat the last word you wrote. Or, Mite Im stuck, Im stuck until something else pops up. .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9 , .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9 .postImageUrl , .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9 , .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9:hover , .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9:visited , .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9:active { border:0!important; } .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9:active , .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9 .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u384663295216bfc992b95259f0aa98e9:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Jones Electrical Distribution Case Analysis Sample EssayWrite whatever comes to mind. Getting the Gold â⬠Scholarship Essay
Getting the Gold ââ¬â Scholarship Essay Free Online Research Papers As the crowd cheered for me, my heart beats we anticipation, waiting in wanting the gun to the sound. The race hasnt started but i am already sweating. A drop of sweat falls for the ground, as its falling I think about how much pressure is on this race. I have trained hard for this moment in the Olympics, and id feel tremendous pain if I lost. Drip my sweat hits the hot ground and everything sounds like itââ¬â¢s in slow motion. Get ready set go..bang! the gun sounds and my heart feels like its now out of my body and onto the track. My first foot leaves the blocks followed by my second. I think about how I must push my self if I want to win. As I take my second stride I see my coach in my head screaming and screaming and yelling and yelling at me. go, go go he says. As I turn to see if any one is next to me, I see my coach, nothing like when I am practicing, but calm as ever, as if he knows I am going to win. He just stood there waiting, watching with this blank look on his face as if hes just there looking at a ghost run. No emotions, no sweat, not a hint of worry. This gave me confidence. I knew that I was the best in the world, I know that no one in the race could match the strength and the will that I had as an athlete, as I got ready to explode on my third stride I totally forgot where I was. I saw my self as a child again, running down the country roads of Texas. Those were the days, I told myself, and I would be an Olympian. Playing tag and racing to the lake, for most kids was just fun, but for me it was my way of testing and training myself for the future. I always knew that one day id be here, representing my country in the best way I knew how. This was my life long ambition. The goal I have waited years to accomplish. Years I have trained, just to race one race that takes less than 15 seconds. A price to pay for the goal. As I remember where I am, I feel my muscles in my body tightening, as if there going to pop. As I lunge for the tape I notice an opponent catching up to me on the right side. And as he was going faster I was going slower. My thoughts were all scrambled my body felt the urge to fight pain and take the lead. As I got closer to the tape I noticed how close my opponent was to me, I couldnââ¬â¢t loose. My thoughts were running wild; I knew I had to concentrate if I wanted to win. I took a deep breathe and pushed myself as hard as I could. I stretched my neck as far as I could andand. I broke a world record by 2.36 seconds. My heart wasnââ¬â¢t on the track anymore; it was in space some where. I didnââ¬â¢t really think about anything, I just walked off the track and sat down. After 4 events it finally hit me that I not only broke a world record, I got the gold. Oberon and Titania Character Analysis
Oberon and Titania Character Analysis The Oberon and Titania characters play an essential role in A Midsummer Nights Dream. Here, we take an in-depth look at eachà character so we can better understand what makes them tick as a couple. Oberon Oberon is angry with Titania as she is spending all her time with a changeling boy and will not give him over to Oberon to be used as a henchman. He could be considered to be quite spiteful in exacting his revenge upon her: ââ¬Å"Well, go thy way. Thou shalt not from this grove/Till I torment thee for this injuryâ⬠(Act 2 Scene 1, Line 146-147). Titania accuses Oberon of being jealous: ââ¬Å"These are the forgeries of jealousyâ⬠(Act 2 Scene 1, Line 81). Oberon is powerful but Titania appears to be just as headstrong, and they seem equally matched. We know they have had a good relationship up until now, as he and Titania would ââ¬Å"dance our ringlets to the whistling windâ⬠(Act 2 Scene 1 Line 86). Oberon asks Puck to get the juice from a herb he once showed him and anoint the eyes of Titania with it so that she falls in love with something ridiculous. Oberon is angry with his queen for disobeying him and exacts a kind of revenge, but it is quite harmless and humorous in its intent. He loves her and wants to have her all to himself again. Consequently, Titania falls in love with Bottom with an Assââ¬â¢ head stuck on his. Oberon eventually feels guilty about this and reverses the magic which demonstrates his mercy: ââ¬Å"Her dotage now I do begin to pityâ⬠(Act 3 Scene 3, Line 46). Oberon also shows compassion when he sees Helena being scorned by Demetrius and orders Puck to anoint his eyes with the potion so that Helena can be loved: ââ¬Å"A sweet Athenian lady is in loveWith a disdainful youth: anoint his eyes; But do it when the next thing he espiesMay be the lady: thou shalt know the manBy the Athenian garments he hath on.Effect it with some care, that he may proveMore fond of her than she upon her loveâ⬠(Act 2 Scene 1, Line261-266).ââ¬â¹ Unfortunately, Puck gets things wrong, but Oberonââ¬â¢s intentions are good, and he is ultimately responsible for everyoneââ¬â¢s happiness at the end of the play. Titania Titania is principled and strong enough to stand up to her husband (in a similar way to Hermia standing up to Egeus). She has made a promise to look after the little Indian boy and doesnââ¬â¢t want to break it: ââ¬Å"Not for thy fairy kingdom. Fairies away!/We shall chide downright, if I longer stayâ⬠(Act 1 Scene 2, Line 144-145). Unfortunately, Titania is made to look foolish by her jealous husband and is made to fall in love with the ridiculous Bottom with an assââ¬â¢ head: ââ¬Å"Thou art wise as thou art beautifulâ⬠(Act 3 Scene 1, Line 140). She is very attentive to Bottom and proves herself to be a kind and forgiving lover: Be kind and courteous to this gentleman.Hop in his walks and gambol in his eyes;Feed him with apricots and dewberries,With purple grapes, green figs, and mulberries; The honeybags steal from the humble-bees,And for night tapers crop their waxen thighsAnd light them at the fiery glow-worms eyesTo have my love to bed, and to arise; And pluck the wings from painted butterfliesTo fan moonbeams from his sleeping eyes.Nod to him, elves and do him courtesies (Act 3 Scene 1, Line 156-166). As Titania is intoxicated with the love potion, she gives the changeling boy to Oberon, and he gets his way. He then takes pity on her and undoes the magic. Together Oberon and Titania are the only couple in the play who have been married for a while. The other couples are just starting with all the passion and excitement a new relationship brings. Oberon and Titania represent an older, more weathered relationship. They have possibly taken each other for granted and when the love potion is removed, and Titania realizes that she has been doting and fawning over an ass, she is made to realize that, perhaps, she has neglected her husband somewhat and this will renew their passion: ââ¬Å"Now thou and I are new in amityâ⬠(Act 4 Scene 1, Line 86).

Social Security Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words
Social Security - Essay Example Full employment does not mean zero unemployment but means a situation where an economy experiences only structural and frictional unemployment and an absence of cyclical unemployment. This is because structural and frictional unemployment are considered unavoidable and work positively to some extent too. The rate associated with full employment is known as the full-employment rate of unemployment or as the natural rate of unemployment (NRU) and is considered to be consistent with a level of unemployment that predominantly comprises voluntarily unemployed workers.1 An economy at its natural rate of unemployment is said to be producing a non-inflationary potential output.2 Zero unemployment is not a desired state, because at this level inflationary pressures start to build in form of rising wages. This increases costs, which are in turn passed on to customers as higher prices, and this leads to inflation. Unemployment is an excess amount of labor on the labor market. An unemployed person is defined as one who is willing to work but is out of work. The unemployment rate is the number of unemployed workers divided by the civilian labor force, this includes both the unemployed and those with jobs. Frictional unemployment is unemployment which results from people moving between jobs and new workers entering the labor force.3 Frictional unemployment refers to workers who are searching for jobs and those that are waiting to work in the near future. A certain amount of frictional unemployment is unavoidable and inevitable, however this type of unemployment can be reduced to some extent by providing better information about job opportunities and availability of workers. Structural Unemployment Structural unemployment is more likely to be a longer term phenomenon than frictional unemployment and consequently have a greater impact. 2 Barbiero Thomas, Brue Stanley and McConnell Campbell. Macroeconomics: McGraw-Hill Ryerson Limited, (2002): 160 3 James, Elijah M. Macroeconomics: A Problem Solving Approach. Prentice Hall Canada Inc. (1997): 419 Structural Unemployment is caused by a mismatch between the skills (or location) of job seekers and the requirements (or location) of available jobs. It is the type of unemployment that arises when there is a decline in the number of jobs available in a particular region or industry, and this is caused by changes in the demand pattern of consumers. If there is a permanent decline in the demand for leather shoes, the

Free responce Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words
Free responce - Essay Example Goodness or lack of goodness in a person determines peopleââ¬â¢s view towards immorality. In this relation, it is usual for a bad person or a person who has been considered as immoral to engage in immorality. On the other hand, it is unusual for a good person to engage in immoral behavior. The society judges individuals according to their perceived behavior. In this judgment, every individual is classified as either a good or a bad person. Good people are judged more harshly for every wrong act committed than bad people are. In the second interpretation, the decline to immorality of a good person is similar to a slander. Good people are the models of every society, everyone in the society want to act and live their life as they do. Their decline into immorality not only affects their reputation but also the reputations of those who look upon them. In addition good people judge themselves harshly for every immorality they commit. Dorian case illustrates this claim effectively. After committing murder, Dorian hated himself and his image; this made him to commit suicide after stabbing his

The executive branch enforces and carries out laws made by the legislative branch as long as they are approved by the head of state. You can find the executive branch in the constitution by looking up article 2. The executive branch consists of the president, the department of defense and many security agencies. To be the president, you must be a native born citizen, which means that you were born in the United States or someone who was born somewhere else but both of their parents are U.S citizens. You also must be at least 35 years old and have lived in the United States for 14 years. The president is elected when the people in each state vote republican, democrat or independent. Once they tally the votes up for each state, if it has more votes than the other party, then that state will usually turn to the winning party. Each state has electoral votes. Electoral votes are the votes casted by the representatives for each state in the Electoral College. These votes are determined by the population of a state. The Electoral College consists of 538 members, each states number of electoral votes it has are equal to the number of senators and representatives it has. The higher the stateââ¬â¢s population, the more electoral votes it has. You add the 435 representatives, the 100 senators and the 3 electors from the district of Colombia. The number of votes adds up to 538 votes. Thatââ¬â¢s why the presidential candidates always try to win the big states like Texas, Florida and New York because by the winning the big states they can win the electoral vote and most likely win the election. You can win the popular vote (which is the vote of the people) and not the electoral vote and still win the election but it rarely ever happens. There is a pres... ...ch. How the Bible Shows God as Creator Essay
The Bible has many different ways of showing God as the creator of the universe. Many people use the Bible to reflect on what God did for them, so that they are able to live as they do now. The Judaeo-Christian belief is that everything has been created; therefore there must have been a creator. They believe that this creator is God. Before there was anything there was God. God is self existent and eternal, He never began and He will never end. God is the creator so therefore has never been created. He was able to make everything from ex nihilo instead of actual matter. The book of Hebrews agrees with this, ââ¬Ëâ⬠¦ we understand that the universe was formed at Gods command, so that what is seen is not made out of what is visible. ââ¬Ë Also because He is creatorâ⬠¦ or just a period of time, but when He created time he gave everything a definite beginning according to His will. When God was creating the different parts of the world, He says ââ¬Ëlet there beâ⬠¦ ââ¬Ë and there is. This shows God as creator because all He has to do is to want something to be in a particular shape and format and it is. God took control over every single thing he made and moulded it into what He wanted it to be like. When He finished creating something ââ¬Ëhe was pleased,ââ¬â¢ showing that everything He made was perfect. He dominates the beginning of the Bible with all the things that He has made himself. No one else comes into the book for some time because it is all about God, showing his dominance. The story does talk of the creation but in nearly every sentence it talks of how God created or God said or saw, it focuses on God as the creator. The second creation story is that of Adam and Eve. God makes a man from dust and breathes his own breath into him. Later on He creates a woman from one of Adamââ¬â¢s ribs and they are each others true companions. This story shows God as creator because it is showing God creating humans in His own image; they are separate from animals because of God breathing His own breath into Adams body. This gives our lives more meaning and purpose, God wants to live closely to humans and wants people to know about Him and live with the creatorââ¬â¢s concerns in mind. God is responsible for everything in the universe. ââ¬Ë Discuss. Many Christians would agree that God is responsible for everything because He made our world. He purposely chose to make everything the way it is today for a reason, so if He is the one who made it all therefore it should be God who takes the responsibility of the universe. You could argue that because God made everything and He made it so that it was supposed to be perfect, then how can he allow natural disasters and disease to occur. God is omniscient, therefore everything that is happening in our world, God has chosen that to happen, everything is there for a particular reason. When God crested the world He gave us free will but He still created it, so in a way we think we have our own free will but because God is omniscient then He has already chosen what will happen to us. Human beings could be seen as Godââ¬â¢s robots, doing what we have been programmed to do. We have a responsibility to do good whilst we are on the earth because that has been programmed into us through God when He first created Adam and Eve. However other Christians may disagree that God is responsible for everything because humans are the ones who actually live on the earth, whereas God is not actually part of this world. Human beings were given the breath of God when He created the first man and this has been passed onto all humans throughout history. By giving us a difference from animals, gives humans a higher state of hierarchy. By having this power higher than all other things on the earth it makes us responsible for the world and it is up to humans to look after it. When God created Eve she ate from the tree of knowledge which God had forbidden. This created original sin, as Eve had given into the temptation of the snake and the tree and gone against what God had said. Some Christians believe that it is Eve then who is the root of all evil. If eve had not eaten fruit from the tree, then the world might have been a better place. God gave them the chance of free will and wanted to see if they could resist temptation and because they couldnââ¬â¢t we are now still suffering for that mistake. So it is not God who was responsible for that but actually human beings and that is why evil occurs in the world. It is almost a warning sign from God to keep taking care of the world he created. I donââ¬â¢t think that there is one right answer for this question. God did create the world; therefore we are all under his power. However no one in the world is perfect and we all make mistakes and a lot of the time those mistakes can affect lots of people, until it grows into a worldwide thing. As God did give us free will then I think that makes us partially responsible for the world and space maybe not the universe.
